July Program

Our speaker for July is member Patty Young. Patty returned recently for photo expedition to Africa
and will share her images and adventures.

August Program

Our August program will feature you, our members. We are asking that you send in (via email) 5-
8 images from the last year or two that you really like. You can like them for a number of reasons like technical quality, special subject, special trip, or whatever.

The RULES
1) Please keep subject matter to nature and wildlife
2) Size the images to <500 kB give or take. Please don't send an email with more than 3 images
attached (1.5-2 MB email size)
3) Images MUST be jpeg format
4) Images MUST be received by July 16th
5) Send images to uwpcimages@comcast.net
6) The subject of the email should be Aug UWPC Program Images. You can number the messages 1,
2, 3, etc.
7) The editorial board (me) will use as many images as I think will fit in a 1 hour show. Everybody
who submits will have some images included.
I expect a lot of images so I will need to be pretty strict on the rules. Thanks!!!

Dues

Some folks are past due!! Our "fiscal year" runs from March to February. Dues are still $15.00 per family unit (single, couple, family, or whatever). Please renew this month. If you aren't sure, I'll have a list at the June Meeting! Anyone who joined since last November is covered through the 2010 year. PLEASE SEND IN YOUR DUES IF YOU HAVE NOT YET DONE SO. This will be the last newsletter to those who have not renewed.

Monthly Critique Images

Please submit up to 3 images, for normal critique and 1 image for theme. Please remember to size the images to less than 500kB and send them before the meeting (a week is good, not later than the Sunday before) to uwpcimages@comcast.net so we can include them in the monthly program. If you need help on the sizing process, go to the page on our website on “digital submission specs”. The theme for July is Pseudo Animals - inanimate things that look like animals.
PLEASE include your name (not just initials) in the image file name so we can give credit!!!
Example would be: bob-dean-turkey.jpg
For August the theme will take a vacation since we are doing member slides as a program

Jim Esten has published some plans for field trips. He's looking for additional ideas so don't be shy!

Have you looked at all of the cool stuff on the cub website?

I recently did a really close look at the club website. Our web guru Andy Long has done quite a job maintaining it and adding lots of great things. The home page has a pretty good set of navigation links to various pages and I encourage you "surf" them all. The calendar page has been updated to now include quite comprehensive list of local events and such thanks to Roger Owens. The Digital Submission Guidelines page has information on how to resize plus a list of the themes for upcoming meetings (we'll be updating the ones for August through December very soon).

The monthly newsletter page has the latest newsletter, and the wild scene and digital corner tabs have most of the articles written over the last several years.

Many other pages shown great member images, some technical notes from the George Lepp program we had a few years ago, public land photography issues and a links page with a lot of very good resources for photographers.

OK, that's what we have now. What I really want are ideas to improve the website. PLEASE contact Bob or Andy with ANY ideas you have.
