January 5 – Laura Fellows 877-247-3371 www.exoticbirding.com runs a tropical birding trip business.

February 2 - Mary Taylor Young: Mary presents a program called Birds across Colorado. A best-selling author of 9 books, Mary has written full time since 1987. Her titles include The Guide to Colorado Birds and the Colorado Wildlife Viewing Guide. For 16 years she wrote the Words on Birds column for the Rocky Mountain News.

April 6 - Club member Richard Seeley will present a program on Alaska wildlife.

Jun 30-Jul 4 1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous - Riverton, WY. Held on the original site of the 1838 Rendezvous. Recreates the old west encampment, with food, games and dancing. Approx. 372 mi. from Denver; www.1838rendezvous.com

July 2 First Friday Gallery Shows. Reed Photo, 833 Santa Fe Dr & Roach Photo, 860 Broadway, and all galleries at the Santa Fe Arts District, Lo Do, and other gallery districts. We may see a different look at Reed Photo Gallery, as ownership is changing. Worth checking out.

July 2-4 107th Annual Cowboy Roundup Days - Steamboat Springs. Cattle drive thru downtown, parade, fireworks, rodeos; see the Steamboat Springs Chamber site, or 970-879-0880.

July 3 Free day at Denver Art Museum, www.denverartmuseum.org 100 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy.
Photo exhibit is ongoing - Exposure: Photos From the Vault. Showing are more than 50
Photographs, some new for the first time. Examples are Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus,
Gary Winogrand, Harold Edgerton, Edward Muybridge, and others' recent acquisitions.
This show is on the 7th floor in the new Anthony & Delisa Mayer Photography Gallery.
Gen. Admission $10, Seniors 65+ $8 (rates for CO residents). Hours Tues - Sat 10-5,
Sun 12-5, 720-865-5000. All first Saturdays are free year-round.

July 3-5 20th Annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival. A world class art festival with 350,000 attendees, free; Sat & Sun 10-8, Mon 10-6; 2nd & 3rd from Clayton to Steele St (6 blocks); bike
corrals at 3rd & Steele and 2nd & Detroit (voluntary donation).

July 4 Independence Day Main St. Parade - Breckenridge. Fireworks at 9:30, viewable to the West, from nearly anywhere in town. Parade starts on North Main St and winds thru town

July 5-11 Breckenridge Bike Week. Amazing whole week dedicated to showing off Breck's bike trail network avl. from anywhere in town; group rides, Tour de France viewing; great
photo op for a mass sports activity in a scenic setting with a mtn. range backdrop.

July 6 Urban Wildlife Photo Club meets at Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 22nd &
Colorado Blvd. Program is Africa, by Patty Young; also monthly critique - members can
submit up to 3 digital images; 6:30 p.m., use the member's door on the North side, left of
the main entrance.

July 8-11 Green River Rendezvous - Pinedale, WY. Locals dress in 1830s period costumes and historic roles, parade, rendezvous run, art auction, 456 mi. from Denver; see the website

July 10-11 30th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo & Art in the Park - Steamboat Springs. Located at Bald Eagle Lake and West Lincoln Park. BEL is 1 mi. outside of town - easy bike ride, or shuttle buses available.; see the SS Chamber site, or 970-879-0880 & hit "0"- zero.

July 10, 15 Rocky Mtn. Arsenal NWR Hike. Take a 2-3 mile hike with a Ranger, looking for blooming wildflowers and plants; cross woodlands, wetlands, lakeshores and short grass

July 11, 23 Rocky Mtn. Arsenal NWR - Bike the Refuge. July 17, 18 Downtown Boulder ArtAffair. 150 artists from around the U.S. display along the Pearl St. Mall from 9th to 17th St.

July 23-25 9rh Annual Breckenridge Art Festival. A big show with covered booths in the Wellington Lot on Main St. Many photo artists.

Ongoing

Arkansas River Whitewater Kayak & Recreation Park, near the 4th St. viaduct in Canon City. They recently opened another area whitewater mecca here (like Salida's), including man-made waves. This also ends any Royal Gorge float trip. We just missed their first Festival (6/25 & 26).

Denver Zoo new babies. Dall Sheep and Bighorn lambs, giraffe, lesser Kudu, penguin chicks, oropendola chicks, vocalizing in Bird World. A rare male snow leopard arrived from Utah's Hogle Zoo, and is already warming up to our resident female… More births are expected in the coming months. Hours are 9 - 5 (closes at 6:00); 23rd Ave, east of Colorado Blvd; find on the web at www.denverzoo.org
