On this page you will find a listing of upcoming program speakers, club field trips, photographic events around the state of Colorado as well as interesting gallery exhibits and photo contests. January 5 – Laura Fellows 877-247-3371 www.exoticbirding.com runs a tropical birding trip business.

February 2 - Mary Taylor Young: Mary presents a program called Birds across Colorado. A best-selling author of 9 books, Mary has written full time since 1987. Her titles include The Guide to Colorado Birds and the Colorado Wildlife Viewing Guide. For 16 years she wrote the Words on Birds column for the Rocky Mountain News.

March 2 - John Kieffer, Boulder based author/photographer. www.OutsideImagery.com

April 6 - Club member Richard Seeley will present a program on Alaska wildlife.

May 4 - Glenn Randall makes a return visit to do a landscape program on Canyonlands and Arches Natl. Parks. www.agpix.com/glennrandall

SUBMIT YOUR PHOTO FOR USE ON PBS

SHARE YOUR FAVORITE COLORADO SHOTS ON-AIR - Submit a high-resolution photo with Rocky Mountain PBS and it may be selected for use as a station ID.

Rocky Mountain PBS is in search of great digital pictures from around Colorado (should not include people or pets). Between programs, we rotate photographs with our station call letters. These "ID" spots run for about three months. There's also a chance that your photo will be used on rmpbs.org in a viewer submission area.

Submitters will be notified of acceptance via email. The submission form should include the name of the person sending in the photo, the place featured in the photo with an appropriate description. For submission go to www.rmpbs.org/photo

USA TODAY OPEN AIR MAGAZINE

USA Today newspaper is starting a magazine called " Open Air". They are looking for submissions of recreational, leisure and nature subjects.

Submit low res jpeg files...if selected they require a high res 3 mega pixal jpeg. Entries should be sent to openairphotos@usatoday.com

PHOTO CONTESTS

Weekly Photo Tips new monthly photo contest!

1. Each contest will begin on the first day of the month, end on the last day of that month, and the winner will be announced within a week of the contest closing.

2. The category is "Open", e-mail image to: info@WeeklyPhotoTips.com?subject=Monthly

3. One image per person per contest. Image size my be 300K or less

4. Include the following information about it:
* Where the image was taken
* how did the image come about
* Equipment (camera, lens, lighting, etc)
* Post production work (what was done and software used)

5. We often receive some pretty cool and useful goodies to review (books, instructional DVD's, photography accessories, etc.) and we are going to share them with our contest winners.
